Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 2, 2026
Executive Privacy Summary
PDFs.lol operates on a strictly client-side architecture. Your documents, files, text, images, and confidential data are processed exclusively inside your device's local web browser memory. We do not upload, transmit, view, copy, log, or store your documents on any external cloud server or remote database. Zero bytes of your document content ever leave your computer or phone.
1. Nature of the Service & Client-Side Operation
PDFs.lol (“the Website”, “Service”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) provides free, browser-based document utilities (including PDF merge, split, rotation, watermark application, metadata inspection, compression, and image conversion tools). Our entire execution pipeline operates through WebAssembly (Wasm), client-side JavaScript, and HTML5 Canvas API within your local browser environment.
Because the code runs entirely on the client end, no file payload is ever uploaded to our web servers or backend infrastructure. Our servers act solely as a static file host serving the HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and compiled WebAssembly assets to your browser.
2. Information We Never Collect or Process
To eliminate any ambiguity regarding document privacy, we explicitly state that we do NOT collect, view, access, or retain:
- Document Contents: Text, images, charts, form entries, signatures, blueprints, or numerical data inside files selected by you.
- Document File Names & File Sizes: File names and metadata of documents loaded into browser memory.
- Extracted Graphics or Output Files: Converted JPG, PNG, or newly compiled PDF files generated by our tools.
- User Accounts & Credentials: We do not offer user accounts; we never request your name, email address, password, phone number, or payment details.
3. Technical Telemetry & Server Log Data
When you access our Website, our static web hosting infrastructure and standard third-party web analytics tools automatically collect standard, non-personally identifiable technical telemetry to monitor site uptime, defend against Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, and optimize loading speeds:
- Network & Device Identifiers: Truncated/anonymized IP addresses, browser type and version, device operating system, language preferences, and referring URLs.
- Aggregate Interaction Telemetry: High-level event counts (e.g. pages visited, buttons clicked, timestamp of requests). This aggregate data contains zero document details.
4. Cookies & Local Storage
We believe in minimal, purposeful storage. Our usage of browser storage technologies is limited to:
- Local Storage (localStorage): We use browser localStorage strictly to preserve your visual theme preference (light mode vs. dark mode). No personal data or document history is ever written to localStorage.
- Analytics Cookies: Third-party analytics services may set standard session cookies to identify aggregate visitor counts. You may configure your browser to block or reject all cookies without affecting the functionality of any tool on PDFs.lol.
5. Third-Party Hosting & Content Delivery Networks
Our website assets are hosted on global content delivery networks (CDNs). When your browser downloads our static files, your web request communicates with these servers. These third-party infrastructure providers operate under strict confidentiality agreements and industry security certifications, handling network packets strictly to transmit our static website code to your browser.
6. Global Privacy Rights (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and Regional Laws)
We respect international data protection regulations, including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and related privacy frameworks:
- Data Minimization by Design: Because we do not store, process, or transmit your document files, there is no document data repository for us to search, share, or disclose.
- No Sale or Sharing of Personal Information: We do not sell, rent, monetize, or trade any user information, telemetry, or behavioral profiles to third-party data brokers or marketing agencies.
- Right to Deletion: If you believe any technical telemetry associated with your IP address has been recorded by our hosting logs, you may request its verification or removal by contacting us.
7. Children's Online Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Our Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). We do not knowingly solicit, collect, or maintain personal information from children. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please notify us immediately so that we can take appropriate steps to purge such data.
8. Security Measures
While we do not store documents, we enforce industry-standard security safeguards on the Website itself, including mandatory Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) with TLS encryption for all website asset deliveries, Content Security Policies (CSP), and automated DDoS mitigation.
9. Modifications to This Policy
We reserve the right to amend or update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect technological improvements or legal requirements. Any revisions will be reflected with an updated “Effective Date” at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Website following notice of updates constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
